Dear All

I'm pleased to announce on behalf of GBHI details of this year's GBHI Academy.    The Academy is designed to create an environment for the continual development of GB squads throughout all age groups and we are embarking on the process to select players for the 10s age group.   I know you have been waiting a while for news of the Academy but I can now confirm Greg Crownshaw is appointed 10s coach and I'm excited ( I think !) to be given the role as 10s Manager.    FYI Academy Co-ordinator is Andy Snazzell and Academy Head Coach is Les Burke.

The process for selection into the Academy is as follows:

- players from last year's GBHI GB squad automatically qualify for a place, irrespective of whether they move up an age group at the end of the season

- thereafter, players will be selected by the Coach but it is anticipated that players coming to trial will already have demonstrated their ability by achieving selection for the GBHI Conference teams

- in exceptional circumstances players may be invited directly by the Coach to join the Academy if he believes the player has outstanding abilities

Greg plans to hold 1 (one) trial and the aim is to select an Academy Squad of around 20 players.   The Squad will then get together for training sessions approximately every 6-8 weeks with specialist coaches brought in to develop the players skills level and build them into a team able to represent GB in international matches and tournaments which we are looking to set up in the UK, Europe and North America.   In these early stages we don't have any more information on matches/tournaments but will obviously let you know as soon as we have any details.

I'm sure you agree this is an exciting opportunity and full details of the Academy's objectives can be found on the website www.gbinline.org.uk

I will let you know the date and venue of the trial as soon as possible.  In the meantime please let your players know about the Academy.   The trial will be open to all your Conference players.

Kind regards
Nicola Bell

Hello all,

GBHI are looking for volunteers/applications for the Key positions of coaches and managers for the GB National Academy's. Please note this is separate to FSHA Academy and any interested parties are encouraged to apply.

Andy Snazell - the GBHI Head of Coaching is vetting the applications but has asked that each region initially gather and coordinate applications rather than random applications being sent to him directly. Therefore any interested parties should send applications to myself in the first instance.

The attached documents outline the requirements for interested parties.

GBHI would like all applications in by 11 Dec please so that the selection process can be completed this year.

Can Club Contacts please pass this email onto all your club coaches and managers in particular but also around your membership, applicants do not need to hold a current officials position, although this maybe advantageous. If anybody would like further clarity they can contact us direct.

Alan & Gordon

GBHI Academy

Aim

The overall aim of the Academy is to create an environment for the continual development of the GB squads throughout all age groups. It will be an ongoing process enabling players to be selected for key events based upon their continued performance rather than specific trials.

Objectives
The objectives are to have:

·        Training every 6-8 weeks throughout the year

·        To regularly participate in tournaments and events both in this country and abroad with the culmination of each season  being participation in the World Inline cup in July

Method

To achieve the aims and objectives we will:

·        Provide an environment for improved team building

·        Allow players to become used to training and playing together competitively on a frequent basis

·        Allowing the coach to develop proper game strategies and practise them regularly.

·        Actively develop "Three Line Hockey" principles

Access to the Academy
Access into the Academy will be via the following routes:

·        Players selected for the previous seasons GBHI GB team automatically qualify for a place, irrespective of whether they move up an age group at the end of the season.

·        Thereafter selection will be via the coach in each age group, but it is anticipated that players will have demonstrated their ability by achieving selection for the GBHI Regional teams.

·        In exceptional circumstances players may, however, be invited directly by the coach if he thinks a player has outstanding abilities.

It is therefore an open process, which all eligible GBHI players can access.

GBHI Academy – 2006/7

GBHI firmly believe in the benefits the Academy brings to the development of players for its National squads, and will be actively promoting the process for this and forthcoming seasons.

To achieve this objective we need to have coaches and managers in position for each age group. On this basis we are seeking applications for coaches and manager across all age groups.

We would like to complete this process by the middle of December. Any interested parties should please submit their applications to their Regional Secretary or Chairman, who will then pass directly on to the Academy co-ordinator Andy Snazell.

We would like all applications to back with Andy by the 11 Dec 06, so that he can complete the selection process by the end of this year.

Could we ask that all applicants please submit a brief  CV outlining their experience etc, and entitle their e-mail "GBHI Academy Application".

Thanking you all in anticipation,

Andy Snazell

GBHI Welcomes FIHL

GBHI are extremely pleased to announce that the Flintshire Inline Hockey League has affiliated to GBHI for the 2005/6 season.

This is a tremendous achievement, and means that GBHI leagues will once again be played out of the Deeside Arena.

FIHL will effectively operate as a separate region, in the way in which the South, Midlands and Scottish do already, which means that the Conference leagues and National Championships will be bolstered by this news, adding increased competition.

It also means that the FIHL players and officials will now have direct access to participate in the GBHI Academy squads and the chance to be part of the National teams.

FIHL chairman Mike Hurle said :-

“The integration of FIHL into GBHI is one step along the road of all associations playing under one umbrella, which should be the objective of us all for the development and progression of the sport”

From a GBHI perspective, I am pleased to welcome Mike and his team into our organisation.  Not only does this add to our portfolio, it brings in an infrastructure which opens up the whole of North Wales and the North West of England to clubs so that they can participate in our leagues. Mike is a dynamic individual, who shares similar views to me in how the sport should move forward, so this association will have all round benefits for us all.
